The decoration is complete with gold gilt highlights and the double finial handle is sweet with only very minor gold loss. I find no damage to the set but the plate has what could be a factory flaw as shown in photo #5. I have examined closely, it looks like a porcelain dip or sliver, not exactly like a chip, it is smooth, it shines with glaze like the remainder of the piece and it has some gold on it as well. I don't find it offensive, it's not very noticeable, but I must mention it for accuracy. The Theodore Haviland back stamp is on the cover and dish, dating the ensemble to ca. 1903 - 1925. The set sits 3 3/4 inches tall by 6 3/4 across the plate, the insert is 3 7/8 and the depth of the plate is 1 inch. Overall, it is an adorable butter set, one of the prettiest I've had, a wonderful functional serving set for your enjoyment or cabinet collection.
