These Victorian handbags are not found very often in this rather nice condition, considering the age of the purse is well over 100 years. It's really quite amazing how very distinct and deep the colors have maintained over the decades, surely these purses were well cared for and properly stored. When you examine the first and second photos, notice that although the pattern is the same on both sides, the use of color is quite different. The last two photos also show both sides of the purse. 
 On the front of the purse, many of the florals and designs are exhibited in a deep plum tone, where on the backside, you will find all the dusty rose tones, all on an antiqued off white background. These differences add special character to the purse and offer diversity in wardrobe choices. Another fabulous feature of this handbag, it is securely attached to a sterling silver frame with beautiful etched designs all-over and a floral sculpted clasp. The sterling is clean, bright and substantial, crowning this purse with quality. The chain handle comes in a classic Victorian style and appears to be slightly gold gilded. 
 The interior maintains it's original lining with two gathered pockets. The fabric is free of stains or discolors but is showing the early signs of fraying, at the sides near the frame's edge, not too bad though, with proper care, this purse is usable. Of course, the Victorian handbags were small in size, this one measuring only 5 in height by 5 & 1/2 in width, 5 across the frame, the chain drops 5 & 1/2 inches and the outer perimeter petit point floral border is 1/2 inch. This purse is in very fine condition, no splitting or weakening to the petit points that I can find. There is a little darkening to the fabric here and there from natural aging but I don't detect any apparent staining. Actually, this purse could not have been carried too often and still maintain this lovely condition. The collector of Victorian era accessories should be delighted with this treasure.
