Vintage Large Cherry Lazy Susan For Formal Dining

This elegant dining table accessory is a harder to find vintage 1930 - 1940 large solid cherry Lazy Susan, I really have never seen a nice one with such a formal look.

Definitely not your typical dumbwaiter, this Lazy Susan is made from, what I believe is, solid cherry and the coloring matches the 1920's - 1940's dining room sets.

It was a little difficult to get the coloring of the wood to photograph exactly, but it's a rich deep cherry tone that may not be quite as red as what is showing in my photos. It is a 6 board Lazy Susan that measures a respectable size of approx. 22 inches in diameter, this piece will service a larger table very nicely. I am estimating the age at about 1930 - 1940, it certainly could be older based on it's wonderful construction. I am judging it by some of the other vintage and antiques that were in the estate, however, I am somewhat certain that it is not any newer. Dumbwaiters have been very popular since the 18th century but around 1915, they were termed the Lazy Susan. This piece looks like it was made to accessorize an elegant and formal 1920 - 1940 cherry dining room set. It sits very sturdy on 4 legs that are approx. 9 inches or so in length, they raise the surface off the table by about 2¾ inches. The turning mechanism is very heavy metal, nothing shoddy about this Lazy Susan. Everything works very smoothly and quietly, spinning as it should. The overall condition is lovely, of course, it has a couple of minor usage marks on the top and a few scuffs along the outer edge but mostly, this piece has been well cared for and obviously not abused, it just has little signs of honest use. I haven't rubbed any scratch cover or anything else on the wood, so some of the scuffs may disappear with very little effort. I wanted you to see it exactly as I received it, well loved and protected, as best as possible for this type of service piece. I would have expected to see more wear so I am happy to have it so well kept for you. If you've been wanting a Lazy Susan for a smoother and easier dining experience, please consider this more unusual formal example.
