I had a little trouble with reflections while taking photos so I had to block the lighting a little but the porcelain is bright snowy white with a little pale baby blue background shading embellishing the florals. The art work is excellent showing the full talent of the artist. In additional to the splendid blossoms, there is a generous amount of gold gilt highlights, including some lovely lattice work. The handles of the plate are nicely cut open, allowing for a secure grip. The artist was thoughtful to sign and date the plate on the backside, as shown. This is an antique plate and the date represents 1898, it was common on early porcelain to see only the last two numbers of the year. This is not a contemporary piece, it is obvious that the porcelain is old, especially on the backside. It measures 10 inches across the handles by 9 & 1/2 in diameter. Condition is wonderful, no damages, very little if any wear to the gold and no signs of usage. I know you will agree when you see this cake plate that it is a beauty, a worthy accessory for your dessert table.
