Charming and Elegant Victorian Puffy Beaded Handbag <<<< Back to Beaded Purses page 1   There is just something about these little Victorian puffy style beaded purses that have always captured my heart, they are the sweetest bags. From the late 1800's comes this lovely and charming, hand made, glass beaded example that is sure to please the antique purse enthusiast.

This purse has a wonderful sparkle that was hard to capture, the charcoal black background beads are radiant and shimmer from every angle.  The jet black beaded design is soft and nonintrusive yet very easily noticed with arches, scalloped details and a floral design that adds an Art Nouveau touch.  The silver toned frame is a lovely crown for this purse, sporting a fabulous filigree triangle on each side and a darling pierced clasp.  All aspects of the frame are sound and secure, working as it should.

The interior of this purse was in shreds so I relined it in a striking vintage silver fabric that carries the look of rich satin, (much nicer than the original old gray fabric).  I trimmed out the edge with a jet  black decorative accent that imitates the appearance of braiding, very pretty and totally chic.  Rarely do I acquire a puffy beaded purse that is fit for any black tie event but this little handbag will carry well to any dressy occasion.

I'm showing you lots of good photos so you can judge this little beauty for yourself.  The last two photos are of the front and back.  This handbag has been professionally cleaned for your future enjoyment.  The original chain handle, which drops more than 5 inches, is not quite as bright as the frame but I choose not to change it.  Stuffed with tissue, this purse measures 5½ in overall height by 6 inches across the bottom and the body spans out about 1¾ inches.  I find not one flaw with this purse, it is perfect, well attached to the frame at all points and simply eloquent.  If you love puffy purses and like these photos, you will adore owning this treasure.
