1930's Hand Stitched Petit Point Change Coin Purse Not What You're Looking For? Click Here For More Change Purses and Coin Holders   This is a wonderful little 1930 - 1940 micro petit point change purse. It has the perfect blend of roses and a colorful floral display on a black background.   Delicately hand made in a micro stitch, approximately 32 - 34 stitches to the inch. Although unsigned, I would say this purse was likely made in France.

The front and backsides of this coin purse are identical, save for the little pull tab on the front side, used to open the purse. The floral pattern is delightful, with roses at the sides and soft colors throughout the entire design. My photos show everything well but I picked up some  reflections on the frame. This petit point change purse is different from any other I've had, in that this one is constructed in an unusual manner. The piping is running down the center of the purse from top to bottom, giving this  coin purse a somewhat four sided shape.  I'm not exactly sure where this purse was made but it does not have any of the characteristics of the Austrian petit point change purses, I am thinking it was much more likely French made.

The side view shows this coin purse has a gusset, which creates a nice roomy interior. The petit point is well attached to the brass toned frame at all points and is structurally sound. The frame is rather heavier than those I usually see and it has a pull back to open clasp. All elements of this purse function normally and the clasp closes with a snap. The interior is lined in a quality black satiny faille type fabric that is clean and looking unused. This coin purse is in excellent condition and I gently cleaned the exterior,  removing some light surface dust from being stored. This elegant coin holder is currently in damage free condition. It measures, stuffed with tissue, a wee 2½ in height from the top of the clasp to the bottom by 3¾ in width, the side gusset is nearly 1 inch in depth and the bottom widens out to 1¾ inches. I know you will adore this special vintage petit point change purse, if you like what you see, don't hesitate, there can't be many of these still available, in this condition. This is the perfect purse accessory for your full sized petit point evening purse or would make a thoughtful gift.
