Let's start with the intricate and elaborate beadwork designed with tiny micro beads, in the colors of soft baby blue, pink and the most gorgeous shade of rose. The pattern is quite different from any other purse I've seen and all of the details are outlined with what looks like silvery French steel beads. My photos are reasonably good but you know how these cameras can be, they don't always show the purse in it's true beauty, as is the case here. The beading is hand stitched very snugly together, which gives this purse a medium hand, not too stiff but allows the purse to maintain a good shapely form. There is no background color on this purse, all the beaded pattern covers the entire surface of the purse. The amazing detail on this purse is very well executed, the talent of the beadier is quite obvious. The brassy toned frame is a true French creation. It includes a considerable amount of beading, a scattering of faux pearls and a superb example of French enameling known as Champlevé. All together, the frame makes a perfect crown for this incomparable beaded handbag. The workmanship is everything you would expect from an early French beaded purse, it's a fashionable and complex work of art. The frame suffers from no real problems or age related issues, just a little natural patina to the metal. It opens and closes properly and the purse is well attached at all points. The clasp is the lift up to open type and all elements of the frame are in good working order. This purse is in the condition I prefer: no damages, no apparent missing beadwork, snags, stains or negatives, just a charming jewel from the 1920's that has been professionally cleaned and well preserved. As you can see the decorative frame wraps itself down the sides of the bag and the ornate pattern carries itself throughout the purse, front, back and sides. The interior is lined in satin and has a single pocket. The lining is clean, without wear or fraying, it shows only small minor signs of age and usage. This, one of a kind, French beaded evening bag measures, stuffed with tissue, 5 inches in height, 7 inches across the bottom, 6 inches across the frame, the side gusset is 1˝ inches and the delicate chain handle drops the purse by 5 inches. There's really not more that I can say, except to look close at the photos and let them speak for this purse. If you enjoy rare and distinctively patterned French beaded evening handbags, then you will likely enjoy owning this one. It's irreplaceable and probably the only one exactly like it.
