I'm going to have a lot of fun talking about this purse because it will be one of my all time favorites. This purse is completely covered in embroidery, executed in 2 different stitches, the ancient and beloved satin stitch and a very dimensional twisted or stem stitch. This combination of stitches bestows an exotic persona upon this purse, full of life and breadth. You will not believe the extensive amount of work it took to bring this purse to completion, even after you see it, you will wonder how anyone can be so skilled. Not only is this some of the finest workmanship I have seen but it is one of the most romantic purses I've offered, as you will see from the dual sided figural scenic portrayals.
WOW, both sides of this purse depict different romance scenes and they are both splendid in nature. You will most assuredly find yourself daydreaming over this purse, as it will lure you into the scenery and your every thought and imagination will be sparked. I'm showing you lots of photos so you can see for yourself all of the intense amount of detail that went into the making of this purse. The needle worker spared nothing in the creation of this one of a kind purse, she gave it her all, I wish I could meet her, such talent must be recognized with raved about.
The central figural scenes are surrounded by some the the most animated roses I have ever seen and they lie on a background shade that I am at a loss for words to describe, it's sort of a faint dusty rose beige ecru, as I said, I really don't know how to describe the color, I'll let my photos speak for me, as they are showing the purse very well. I have not seen very many of these embroidered purses through the years, certainly not in this condition, this purse is basically in pristine condition, I have found only one slightly raised short thread but I dare not fiddle with it, it's just not very important but I mention it for accuracy.
The frame is a simple golden arched shaped frame but it sports a rather interesting clasp. It's a pull back to open clasp that has a sort of twisted design, complimentary in style to the twisted embroidery stitching and it is enhanced with rows of marcasites. The clasp is a little tarnished but other than that, the frame looks wonderful and it opens and closes properly, as it should. The purse is well attached to the frame at all points. In the photo of the side of the purse, the frame looks slightly opened but I tweaked it a little and now it is just fine. This purse, along with it's frame, has no problems or issues, it is in gorgeous, magnificent condition. The outer side and bottom perimeter of this purse is another beautiful expression of high-quality workmanship, it's truly quite astounding. The interior maintains it's original medium brown satin lining with dual pockets and lipstick slot, again, looking unused and spotless, I do believe that you will be the first to carry this vintage embroidered purse. The lining shows no signs of usage, this purse was likely properly stored away since it was made. This is a rather roomy handbag, just a bit larger, stuffed with tissue, it measures 8 inches from the top of the clasp to the bottom, 8¾ inches wide, 7¾ across the hinges, the outer band is ⅞ of an inch and the chain link handle drops 7 inches. Even the loops on the chain have a twisted form to them, this is a well coordinated purse, very shapely and stylish. This purse has a medium hand, it is not a stiff purse, neither is it too soft, it perfect, in every way. Thank you for spending some time to admire one of the best silk embroidered purses available, I know you will love and cherish this purse, once it's in your hands, you really won't have a choice but to love it, it's just too good.
