The tiny micro glass beads were used during the 1800's and this handbag is a stunning example showing 400 beads per square inch. The full spectrum of color includes 3 shades of green, oranges, red, pink, rose, lavender, maroon, yellow, amber, multiple blues, black, browns and perhaps a couple more shades. Although my photos express this purse very well for a cloudy day in New England, the purse is quite a bit crisper and lovelier in person, please refer to the last photo for truest tone. The background of the floral panels is a clear bead on a ivory thread, not yellowing, gray or any other color, actually looks fairly white. The purse offers the same complete unusual detail and workmanship on both sides. The purse is crowned with a rare and magnificent Italian micro mosaic frame, all set with tiny glass pieces that shape an intricate floral design. The mosaic is clean, crisp and in excellent condition, under magnification, you might find one tiny micro piece amiss, not detectable to the eye and I'm really not sure there is anything missing. All the colors in the frame coordinate beautifully with the purse, it truly is a masterpiece and over 100 years old. The interior of the brass toned frame is marked, Made in Italy, also an impressed mark that looks like the letters, FAP, I cannot offer info on that mark. The brassy chain handle that drops the purse by 5 1/2 inches is substantial enough to support the generous size of 11 inches by 7 1/2 wide. The twisted and interlocking fringe is perfectly matched to the beading on the bag. One of the fringes has been tied off to prevent further loss, as shown, otherwise, this antique purse is in exceptional condition. The beading has been cleaned and refreshed, any micro bead loss would be miniscule and insignificant. There is a small pale discolor on the backside that is partially camouflaged by amber beads so it is not intrusive at all but I mention for accuracy. The lining was gone but for a tiny piece that I used to match the bright ivory color. My finest effort went into gathering it all against the frame and adding a pocket, very pretty and classy. You must know that I think this purse is splendid, I love the condition and everything about it, I believe you will also, let me know and I'll put it aside for you.
