High Quality Silver Plated Jewelry Casket Signed J.B.

Vanity Items and Porcelain Dresser Pieces page 2

This superb vanity accessory will delight the collector of fine jewelry caskets and boxes. The quality of the silver plate and finish is evident.

I have treasured owning this exquisite box for over four years but it hasn't tarnished a bit, it has a fabulous finish, it's time I share it with you.

The entire box is embossed on all sides and the top is especially wonderful, seeming to tell a story, with it's many figural characters and village background scene. There are trees and buildings, roof lines and lots of action going on. The artwork is well defined and fun to study. The four sides are further embossed with window type designs overlapped with swags of garland. This box sits sturdy on four little sculpted feet, all four are in solid order. My photos are showing all of these features very well.  When I purchased this jewelry casket, it had already been highly polished and it hasn't seemed to change whatsoever, I love the low maintenance.

These two photos show the sound and secure hinge and the unusual shape of the box, it bulges outward in the center and narrows slightly at the sides. The cover sits down well against the box, at it should, has a little attached finger protrusion for lifting the lid and the cover stays opened when lifted. The bottom of the box is signed J.B. (Jennings Bros.) and the number 2649, most likely a product number . The bottom of the box has the only visible signs of roughness, the metal does not seem to be as smoothed down in some areas of the bottom and some of it is discolored. This manufacturing flaw does not effect the box in any way nor the value.

The interior appears to have been relined some time ago and fairly well done in a plush purple velvet. This early 1900's - 1920 jewelry casket measures 4¾ in lenth by 3 in width and stands 2½ in height. I don't find any damage on this box, no dent or abuse at all. Obviously it is in well cared for condition. Thank you for considering this jewelry casket, it is in splendid condition, I expect you will be pleased with it.
