Family members and guests are always attracted to these old bread boards, and why not, they are not only attractive serving pieces but they also make wonderfully thoughtful gifts for the woman who likes to serve specialty breads or perhaps make her own. This particular bread board has been loved and well cared for, although it does show it's fair share of cut marks and usage. I am happy to report that this board is fully sized at 12 inches in diameter, so there is plenty of room for the entire loaf of bread. It is in structurally sound condition, suffering no cracks or warping.
Of course, this board has it's nicks, bumps and signs of usage but only enough to give it a unique and individual personality. The top of the board is hand carved with the letters Bread, as shown. The B and the r do have a bit of chipping, as one might expect from an antique board, but the lettering is still very well defined. The lettering is raised above and incised area which has been given a textured look, all done by hand. The outer edge of the board has a somewhat rounded bevel, as well as some inner turnings, all of which are showing well in my photos.
In addition to the lettering, there is a complimentary carved flower and some wheat-like engravings. This board has a very strong, solid feel and looks to be made of hard rock maple. The outer perimeter edge, of the backside of the board, has been removed or carved out, leaving behind the impression that the board is footed. This board has a warm honey tone and is ready for you to use. I've been using this board simply as a decorative piece but I think it's time that you put it to some good honest use. Please consider adding it to your kitchen and bread making accessories today. Item 8-627 C Sale Pending Place Order via Email We Have More Primitive Woodenware & Country Primitives
