My photos are showing the coloring of the hard maple wood very well and the various bright golden honey tones. Some of the growth lines have the appearance of deep veins which have acquired fabulous rich tones, adding a special persona to this bowl. In the photos, some of these veins may look like cracks but they are not. This bowl has no cut or chops marks so it has been used for other purposes, like making bread or pastry dough. This bowl has been cleaned to the best of my ability and it is a stunning example of American workmanship. The condition is very good. There is a slight 3 inch hairline on the bottom but it barely makes it's way to the interior, where it is so tight that you can hardly feel it. This hairline is caused from the shrinking of the wood and not by abuse. I am showing photos of both the exterior and interior bottoms so you can judge it yourself, it really is fine and sturdy. This bowl will have no trouble serving whatever you like and this small imperfection will not detract from it's usage. This vintage bowl is quite solid and heavy, measuring 15⅛ by 14⅛ and sits level and deep at 4½ inches. If you love the coloring of this bowl, you will like it even more when you see it in person, it's a charmer that will add a bright spot to your decorative or serving accessories.
