I apologize for any light reflections or glares but this mirror and brush is really quite appealing. The delicate floral sprays make this set especially pleasing and the choice of pink and yellow roses, with baby blue forget-me-nots, are enchanting. As you can see, there is plenty of colorful decoration and all the tones are showing very well in my photos. The transfer decorated artwork is set against a snowy white background and the theme is very cheerful and reminiscent of Springtime. The artwork is well positioned but one of the roses and a bud, at the outer edge of the hand mirror, is a bit smudged, nonetheless, it takes nothing away from the overall beauty of the set. The golden brassy framing and handles are obviously styled from the Victorian era, having wonderful embossed roses on the handles. They have been cleaned and polished for your enjoyment. They are secure and sound with the rim of the hand mirror having some various denting but nothing too naughty, in my opinion. My photos show a good representation of what to expect, the porcelain is damage free and this set simply looks better in person.
The original beveled mirror is in great reflective condition and it barely even has a scratch but there is a spot of silvering wear at the base, in the area where the thumb might rest. I personally don't think the mirror needs to be replace, it's always nice to have the original but if this is going to bother you, I can replace it with a perfect beveled mirror, for a small fee. The photo below shows my dining light fixture for clarity purposes and the little area of wear I am referring to. The brush bristles are complete, they are set in wood and are in very nice condition but I consider these hair brushes to be for decorative use only. My photos express the true personality of this set and they will allow you to judge this sweet set as worthy for your vanity. It measures the standard size of 9¼ in length with a 5 inch viewing surface, the brush is proportionately smaller. If you love pink and yellow roses, along with a delicate Victorian flair, you will appreciate owning this set. It's delightful, it's well over 100 years old and it will be a thoughtful and useful gift.
