This Art Nouveau antique hand mirror is very much like many others that I have sold with Limoges back stamps. I apologize for the occasional reflection, both on the porcelain and a little blue on the metal from my shirt, these hand mirrors can be somewhat of a challenge to photograph. Well, isn't she just about as sweet and innocent looking as can be. She does appear to be comfortably poised, yet reserved and perhaps a bit shy. She has brown auburn hair and dreamy gray blue eyes. Her almost childlike facial features are surrounded with a bouquet of soft lavender irises. She is clothed in a mellow green draped dress with orange trim, which is pinned at the side shoulder with a lovely dress brooch. The transfer decorated artwork is very good, showing little, if any, wear. I do see a few faint scratches when I look under the magnifying glass but nothing really stands out or is obvious. I have cleaned and polished this hand mirror for you, overall, it's in superb condition and has aged quite gracefully over it's 100+ years of age.
The Art Nouveau designs on the brass framing and rim are also in beautiful condition. The upper outer rim has a wonderful deep scalloped edge as well as a smaller crimped inner border, it's very pretty and carries itself well around the perimeter, on both sides. The handle is very strong and secure, highly embossed with those gorgeous Art Nouveau florals, leaves and flowing lines. The mirror offers a perfectly clear reflection with a wide outer bevel and it is showing my dining room leaded fixture for clarity. It does have a couple of small scratches but nothing that effects it's ability to properly serve you. As you can see, this is a delightful antique porcelain backed hand mirror that measures the standard approximate 9½ inches in length with a 5 inch viewing surface. I believe all of my photos portray this vanity accessory very well, please look them all over carefully and determine that this darling antique portrait hand mirror must be an accompanying piece to your favorite vanity items.
