Wow, check out her eyes. This is an exquisite representation, a true Victorian beauty to say the least. The portrait is an excellent transfer decoration of both subtle and yet distinctively Victorian color tones. Her clothes, her hair, dress, jewelry, all speak of that era. I believe my photos depict the true nature of the artwork. The transfer decorated porcelain is in very fine condition with little to mention. The color tones are crisp and the art work is far nicer in person. The only thing to mention, and I did not recognize this until I viewed my photos, is a flower bud that extends from her hair. It seems that the green border did not meet up close enough to the bud and left a lighter border around the bud. I've had this hand mirror for a little while and I never noticed it until today. I looked it over closely under magnification and the green just didn't get painted close enough to the bud. It is not a damage or any other problem and apparently can be easily overlooked.
As you can
see, there is a lovely gold gilt stenciled clover design that borders the
perimeter of the frame. It's all in very nice condition and is atop a wide
Victorian green border, lighter toward the center and darker toward the outer
perimeter. The framing and handle are very sound and secure. The handle is a two
tone color. The faint brass plating has worn to a silver tone with some of the
brass tone still in place. This all shows very nicely in my photos and the deep
embossing gives the piece an outstanding appearance. More evidence of it's
Victorian age is the presentation of the cherub on the handle, a classic theme
of those times.
The framing
and handle are really beautiful on this piece, I'm showing you lots of photos
for you to see it's true nature. I have cleaned and polished this piece
and it is wonderful. The original mirror was damaged so I replaced it with a
stunning beveled replica, mush like it's original, all in perfect, clear
condition. The size is standard at approx. a little over 9 in length by 5 in
width. It really
is a terrific piece and will surely delight the collector of exceptional and
seductive vanity
accessories.
