This hand mirror is whimsical and full of personality with the three cherubs fully enthralled in their book. The colors are soft and easy on the eyes and the center theme is surrounded with a ½ inch peach border. There is a thin gold gilt edging along the inner edge of the peach border, which has a little gold wear here and there. The dome shaped porcelain is in excellent damage free condition, no scratches and the transfer decorated scene is in very nice shape for it's age with wee if any wear.
The metal framework has a nice brass rim with a saw-toothed edge, as shown. The rim has a few dents and small distortions but still looks lovely sitting on my vanity. The original beveled mirror was in pieces so I replaced it with a quality beveled mirror that is very much like the original, it is perfect and clear. The brass handle has those delightful embossed Victorian designs. The outer metal rim and handle have been cleaned and polished to a bright gold gilt tone, they are beautiful. In the photo, it looks like there is some dark tarnish in the deep crevices but, as I look at it in my hand, I can barely see this. This hand mirror measures the standard approx. 9¼ in length and has a 5 inch viewing surface.
