Superb Hand Woven Art Nouveau Beaded Purse, ca. 1900 Not What You're Looking For??  Click Here To See More Antique Beaded Purses   The Art Nouveau era brought forth some of the most gorgeous beaded purses and this example is truly outstanding indeed. The hand woven design is nothing less than dazzling, the overall look is captivating. This purse offers so much appeal and character.

The pink and brown basket of overflowing flowers, as shown below, is framed with an iridescent blue and soft white checkered border, which seems to herald in the Art Deco era. The floral tones include cranberry, pinks, cobalt blue, baby blue, bright red and greens.  The basket handle is tied with a large baby blue flowing bow.  Bright gold beads trim the center arena and highlight the outer purse edges. The fancy clasp shows the  Victorian influence and there is a matched iridescent bead at each sew hole.

The close-up photos of the silver toned frame show the embossed swirling leafy designs very well, which characterize the Art Nouveau era and suit this purse well.  The rather lush and thick looped fringe work is all complete and fully color coordinated.  My photos represent this purse fairly well but they certainly don't show the depth of sparkle and shimmer that this purse exhibits, you'll love it when you see it.

The purse has been cleaned to it's best possible condition.  The original lining was no longer usable so I added a wonderful and delicately thin off-white paisley silk lining and pocket.  This large antique purse measures 12 inches long by 7 1/2 wide with the chain hanging 7 1/2 inches.  It's a great purse, in super condition, it is hard to find these hand woven antique beaded purses in much better condition.
