The workmanship is incredible on this purse. I love micro petit point and when it is blended with hand beading, it becomes a fascinating work of art that few are capable of creating. The intense use of color, in the micro petit point floral pattern, is fabulous and my photos show it all very well. The colors vary from soft and subtle to deep and alluring but in no way are they too stark. The abundant shades in the petit point are stunning and span the full spectrum of earthy color tones and several additional shades. The beading is well appointed with a lush floral display and the stitch count on the petit point is 40 stitches to the inch or 1600 to the square inch, how delightfully magnificent. It has been a long time since I have acquired a similar purse and Ed B Robinson is one of my favorite designers. The exterior beading and petit point are in excellent overall condition and this purse has been professionally and thoroughly cleaned. There are literally thousands of twinkling ivory beads, all of which have a distinct sparkle and I find perhaps one or two that might be missing, however, no snags or obvious flaws, it is a beauty and you will love it. The golden brassy frame is another French work of art. The metal work is beautifully pierced and enameled in the Champlevé form. Champlevé is an enameling technique in which sections are carved or cast into the surface of the metal frame and filled with vitreous enamel. The piece is then fired until the enamel melts, then cooled and polished, all creating a spectacular crown for this purse. Upon close inspection, you can see a few small places that have an enamel flaw but you'll need to take a close look to notice them. The enamel, for the most part, is fully intact and secure. The enameled clasp wraps itself over the frame, closes with a gentle snap and all structural elements of the frame are in proper working order.
The purse has a fairly large side gusset which allows for a roomy interior. The beige satin lining has 2 pockets, a lipstick tube slot, a made in France label and the Ed B Robinson designer label. The lining is in gently use condition and suffers no major flaws. This purse carries with a slinky style chain handle that looks a little brighter in person. This purse has a medium soft hand, it's not stiff at all nor is it too soft. The backside of this purse is hand beaded in an all over pattern with a large single flower in the center of the bag. Stuffed with tissue it measures 5 inches in height, 8˝ inches across the bottom, 7 inches across the frame, the side spans 2 inches and the chain handle drops by nearly 5 inches. This purse has been respected, well kept and preserved over time. This elegant vintage Ed B Robinson designer French beaded and micro petit point evening handbag is very worthy of your consideration and will shine amongst your treasury of purses, it's splendid.
