The background is a round black bead but a cut faceted black bead is used to detail the peacock. As usual with the color blue, I could not get them to show well, so please remember while you view the photos that the main blue in the peacocks is a darker royal blue along with a sea blue, it is not the stark blue that you see, actually much nicer in person. Additional colors include ruby, green, golden yellow and others. The first close-up of the peacock does not show the ruby eye, the opposite side shows the white eye. Other differences include slight changes in color to the plumes and different use of color to the head feathers and beaks, all making for an interesting antique purse. No fringe on this purse and clearly it never had any. The original lining and trimming is intact and stable although it has been mended over the years, someone took great care to keep this purse original and in very fine condition. The silver toned clasp has flower petals, how sweet. This wonderful purse measures a generous 10 1/4 long by 8 3/4 in width with the heavy silver toned chain dropping 9 inches. This is a rather heavy purse with lots of personality, a beauty to add to your collection.
