As you can see, the intricacy of the pattern is very eye catching, can you imagine knitting this work of art. The first and second photos are of the front side of the purse, the third photo is the back side. Both sides do seem identical in color and pattern, both sides are in very fine, well kept condition, having wee if any bead loss, no structural problems, no snags or pulls. This antique beaded purse is wonderful and has been professionally cleaned, it is in splendid form, with the metal lightly polished. These oriental carpet themed purses are very desirable and this one is especially exciting.
I'm showing you lots of crisp photos, which show it's true nature, so you can judge this purse as worthy to be in your collection. The bottom of the beading is finished with a complete row of twisted and interlocking fringe. These are the original fringes but they were very weak when I acquired this purse so I took the liberty of re-stringing them for you. The purse is well attached to the frame at all points and has been re-enforced where ever needed and any minor repairs to the beading have been made. The frame is delightful, it has four hinges, allowing it to open in the square shape, as shown below. The lift to open or fold over clasp is topped with a lovely multi faceted, bezel set, amethyst stone. I would expect that you would be very pleased with the antique knitted creation.
The lining was gone so I re-lined this purse with a coordinating turquoise blue silk, which matches one of the colors of the beads and fringe. The lining is lightly tacked to the top of the purse but if you intend to carry this purse, please advice me so I can stitch the lining more securely to the frame which will be much better for carrying. The silver tone frame may be silver plated and is enhanced with bands of open pierced metal work to include scrolling designs and little flowers. My photos are showing these details very well. This purse lays nice and flat and measures at least 11 inches in total length by 7 inches in width. This is a fairly good sized rug design, in great condition, a prize for any treasury of finer purses. Everything is terrific about this purse, the colors, the pattern, the frame and the condition, it's splendid.
