The Art Nouveau era brought forth some of the most fascinating beaded purses and this one will certainly fit that description. My photos are very good and somewhat successfully express the beauty and coloring of this purse but you will discover that it's even more dramatic in person. The color palette is gorgeous as is the entire condition of this handbag. The peacocks have two shades of blue, one being cobalt, along with radiant shimmering gold, pink cranberry, amber brown and bright yellow. The head feathers are amber and gold, the beaks are milky white. The peacocks are perched on a medium gray branch that is decorated with green leaves and pink cranberry florals. Both sides of this purse show the same scene except in reverse and both sides are shown in the last two photos. The frame is a classic example of the Art Nouveau period. It is very sturdy and deeply embossed, the center shield is awaiting your initials if you wish to have them engraved. The purse is secure to the frame at all points and is studded with a silver steel bead at each of the frame's sew holes, a charming accent. The bottom is fringed with a stunning full row of black and gold beading, it is lush with well over 3,000 beads and each strand has been newly restrung, you may carry it with confidence. The original interior lining was badly deteriorated so I relined it with vintage silk in a shimmering soft gold color which matches the gold beading in the purse. This treasure has been professionally cleaned for your future enjoyment and carries only a scent of freshness. The condition is excellent, no bead loss or problems that I can find, just a little aging and tarnish to the frame but not bad at all. The purse measures 7 inches across the top of the frame, 11½ top to bottom and the chain drops 5 inches. This purse is a magnificent work of art and oh so amazing with the double peacocks gazing so lovingly at each other. I know you will love it, if you've been wanting that special peacock purse, this is worthy of serious consideration. Item 5-1223 C Sold, Thank you!
