My photos are very good and show the exact colors. As you can see, this is a striking loose powder compact with all the charm and character one could hope for. In the foreground are 2 lovely damsels dressed in period clothing of the times. They are being entertained by 3 handsome musicians who are playing a variety of musical instruments. The background is a gorgeous drape with colors of lavender and maroons. The colors on this compact are simply delicious, I haven't seen another nicer in a long while. The stitches are very small, must be at least 35 or more per inch, they would be a chore to could, even under magnification. I see no wear, aging or problems, this compact is in stunning, well preserved condition, coming from an amazing New York City petit point collection that was properly stored for many decades. 
 These close-up photos show all the stunning shades of silk threads, how small and tightly they are stitched to form this intricate scene. Completely hand made in Austria, during the 1940 - 1950 era, this loose powder compact will arrive in unused condition. That's right, you will be the first to use it or choose to preserve it and keep it as a unique and untouched vanity treasure. The interior is complete with a good beveled mirror, as well as a clean powder screen and puff.
There is a loose Austrian label slipped in the ribbon of the puff, just as it was found. The backside is a leather like material but I can't say 100% if it is leather. Seems that if someone were going to work hard to make this type of petit point, they would have used leather on the backside but whatever it may be, it's in great condition. The gold tone brassy metal frame has an etched design and it also is in beautiful vintage condition. The petit point top and bottom fabric are set into the framing with a thin twisted cord. The clasp is a little different from what I usually see, it snaps closed well and occasionally may require an extra push on the sides, I think because it is rather large, measuring a huge and impressive 3⅞ in diameter, wow, nearly 4 inches. I must say this is the largest and nicest vintage Austrian figural micro petit point compact that I have ever offered. If you like the photos, you will adore owning this extraordinary hand made treasure from the past.
