The lovely scene is well depicted and quite striking under a gorgeous blue sky. To further enhance the compact is an outer border trimmed with curly-cues in the shape of the letter S. The stitches are very small, must be at least 30 to 35 per inch, considered micro stitches. I see no wear, aging or problems, this compact is in stunning, well preserved condition, coming from an amazing New York City petit point collection that was properly stored for many decades. 
 The backside is covered in a black ribbed fabric that is in extra fine shape, my apologies for any little lint in the photo. The interior is complete with it's clear beveled mirror, clean screen and original unused puff. The silver toned metal case is gently etched and signed Austria, by hand, as shown. The metal looks kind of messy in the photo but it is actually very nice and shiny looking, like new. The clasp is in solid working order, push in to open and push in to snugly close. This handsome creation measures generously at 3 & 1/4 in diameter. I am sure that someone will be thrilled to add this more unusual scenic petit point compact to their vanity, wardrobe or purse accessories.
