Set of Four Antique German Dessert Plates

<<<<Back to Porcelain from Germany

Please take a close look at this set of four hand painted German plates suitable for dessert, pastry or a small snack.  They are exceptionally charming and will grace any table setting.

Made in Germany between 1918 and 1945, these vintage plates are unique, in that each plate is hand painted with a different flower, it's getting much harder to find these unusual sets as the years pass.

I'm showing you a lot of photos so you can see how lovely the various florals are and how nicely they are painted.  The artist did a good job and was thoughtful to include her signature, Elizabeth Kerwin, sweetly hidden amongst the florals, on each plate.

The trailing violets are a great combination of several shades of pastel lavenders, light purples and greenery.  The background is completely shaded with more of the same colors and a dash of pale sunny yellow.

The sweet daisies are abundant and the background shading covers the entire plate.  The large yellow center really contrast well against the delicate white petals.  I had a little trouble getting the correct shades of green so you can expect the greens to be a bit more pronounced in tone, very pretty.

No set is complete without pink apple blossoms, these are beautiful in soft tones and pastel shadings.  These plates are a little less than 7 inches in diameter and will service your guests with a touch of elegance and style.  What a wonderful way to serve your friends a piece of cake or a brownie.

Three of the plates carry the Weimar Germany back stamp, making it easy to date this set, one plate has the Bavarian mark, however, all were painted at the same time.  Their condition is perfect, no damages of any kind, looking unused with all of the paint strong and intact.  I know you will enjoy owning these four gorgeous hand painted plates, they are splendid.  They would also make a thoughtful and fabulous gift.
