This sensational vintage perfume casket will adorn your vanity or dresser top with class and elegance. These perfume caskets were sparingly produced in several different patterns but this is the first time I see it in the stenciled blue design with the Dresden style flower embellishment. The artwork appears to be transfer decorated with hand painted highlights throughout and the florals are different on each side, as shown.. The color of the blue is showing fairly well, it is a rather bold royal blue, very striking. The egg is cased with secure bright brass tone embossed metal as well as the connection between the egg and the base The center post is the working mechanism, push down to open and push down to catch the egg when closing. The interior has two holders for the original clear mini bottles, marked on the bottoms, French bottle. Each is in perfect original condition with their daubers intact and all elements of this perfume are in good working order. The outer shell is gorgeous, my photos are very good and show what you should expect to receive. The underside is simply marked LIMOGES Made in France. I could not find this mark in any of my Limoges marks books but these exact perfume caskets were made by the French Company, Goumot-Labesse, during the 1950 era, so I date this casket at the same approx. time. They could have used this mark a little earlier, before using their own 1950's back stamp, as they were in business prior to the 1950's. Please excuse all the light reflections in the photos, I see no paint loss, all the brass continues to maintain a nice and attractive sheen. This Limoges egg casket is in wonderful condition, no damages or significant wear at all, just natural aging, better than expected. It measures 5¼ in total height by 2 ½ wide and stands sturdy on a 3 inch diameter porcelain base. This wonderful treasure will add charm and character to your collection, you really should consider this one, it's absolutely charming, don't let it get away, who knows when I'll find another.
