Vintage Buffalo China Butter Tub, ca. 1920
<<<< Back to More Porcelains from Around the World This charming hand painted butter tub comes from the Buffalo Pottery Company of Buffalo, New York. The original insert is in place, it was used as a drain for the chipped ice, must keep the butter chilled for your guests. You will find it decorated with the sweetest yellow and purple pansies, the interior of the tub has been iridized for added appeal, this is more obvious in the first photo. The open handles as well as the rim are highlighted in gold gilt, this set is in perfect condition, no wear, damage or signs of use. The Buffalo China mark is on the bottom as shown, along with a 1920 date. I forgot to take the measurements but I would say about 5 inches across and 2 1/2 inches tall, will check if asked. It really is a lovely early Buffalo China set and will surely be an asset to your treasures. More pansy pieces are available, view the RS Silesia covered sugar and creamer, the rare Austrian pastry tray and plate set, the 6 cups and saucers in Noritake Nippon, a stunning Bavarian cake plate with bow handles, a serving bowl and relish tray and a set of 8 1/2 inch plates.
