Even though my photos are very good, they just don't seem to do justice to this very impressive handbag. The background bead is a bright ivory, not quite white, it is ivory. There are thousands of these little glass beads arranged in a most interesting and complex pattern of Tambour embroidery in the Point de Beauvais stitch. Each of the diamond shaped embroidered patterns is enhanced with a rose in full bloom. There is a variety of wonderful and diverse color tones which include deep wine burgundy along with many complimentary and coordinating shades. This purse is truly amazing, with it's splendid array of dynamic workmanship. The talent it must have taken to accomplish such a work of art and bring it to completion. This is a beautifully appointed evening bag that should easily excite it's next owner. The shapely curved frame and the lift to open clasp are another fine example of French design and creativity. The French artisans were well known for their Champlevé enameling and this example is some of the finest. The combination of exquisite beading and colorful enamel work is dynamic to say the least. The frame is amongst the best of the best and makes an appropriate crown for this elegant evening bag. The frame is in good working order, opening and closing with a good snap. I see no elements of the frame that are missing or worn, no losses or damages. This magnificent tiara measures 7½ inches across the hinges and is 1¼ inches in depth from front to back side. The is a very substantial frame and fully capable of supporting this very sizeable purse. The colorful beading, along with lots of deep gold steel beads, gives this frame a uniquely exciting contour and personality. I did professionally clean this purse, so you can enjoy a totally refreshed vintage wardrobe accessory. This purse was previously used and enjoyed but also well cared for and not abused. The purse is well attached to the frame at all points and I'm being careful to tack down anything that might show signs of needing it. This purse will arrive to you in fabulous condition. The interior is lined in an ivory satin with a pocket that is stenciled, made in France. The lining does show signs of usage but it is clean and has no tears or wears. Stuffed with tissue, this French beaded and embroidered evening purse measures 5½ inches in height, 10½ inches across the bottom, 6¾ inches across the top, the gusset and bottom has 3¾ inches of depth and the carry chain handle drops the purse by 5½ inches. As you can see, the beaded and embroidered designs are around the entire purse. This purse has a medium hand, not too stiff, nor is it soft and maintains a reliable shape but should be stored with tissue stuffed inside. This magnificent piece of art is for the lady who is not shy and wants to carry it all; the phone, keys, hair brush, make-up bag, etc... This 1930 - 1940 French purse comes in a size that is rarely found, it will likely be a very long while before I see or find another. Please consider adding it to your esteemed and more unusual wardrobe accessories.
