I've taken plenty of photos, from many angles, to show all I could about this extraordinary vanity purse. My pictures are very good and express it's true nature, showing you exactly what to expect. This is a signed Evans compact vanity dance purse from the 1920's era, a time that brought forth some extremely lovely vanity bags, and this example is splendid. As you can see, it is a radiant two toned case, both silver and gold. The interior is signed Evans Nickel Silver and although I find no other markings, the case appears to be gold gilded as well but I can't guarantee it. The mix of silver and gold makes for a striking presentation, it is gorgeous. I did give it a light polishing in order to expose all of it's beauty. This compact purse cleaned up quite well and will be easy to maintain in it's current condition. Nickel Silver, commonly called German Silver, is one of my favorite metals, as it polishes up and looks just like sterling silver. The all-over golden interior is complete, stunning and magnificent. The interior comes with a clear mirror, showing very small aging, it's comb in it's swing out arm, it's rouge and powder pots along with the two puffs, all original components and in excellent condition. I believe these 3 photos show the precise aspects of the interior and I know when you see this purse, you will be delighted with it's condition. I think it's in remarkable shape and I find it amazing to have survived this long and looking so very fine, only gently used, very well cared for and preserved, it will be hard to find another nicer.
The case, both on the exterior and interior has lots of striking details, etched designs, embossed edges and engine turned patterns. I find not one fault to report with this fabulous compact purse. The center cartouche on the top has gone unmarked, no initials, also no dents, dings, significant scratches or other issues with the case. The herringbone or feathered style carry chain handle is equally as pretty, strong and secure, measuring 5¾ in length.
The case opens easily and closes with a tight snug snap. This very special Evans compact vanity dance purse measures 3½ inches from the top of the clasp to the bottom of the hinge by 1¾ in width and is ½ inch in depth. The hinge is perfect and in solid working order, as it should be. I really can't find any reason not to love this fascinating vanity compact purse from the flapper era. Please consider adding it to your collection, it will be a shining star amongst your compact purses.
