Well, this little cutie has all the sparkle and elegance that you could hope to find in a French designer all black glass beaded evening purse.

Vintage 1930 1940 Freddy of Paris French designer black beaded and rhinestone frame evening purse

Hand made in France for Freddy, one of the French designers that captured the hearts of American women while seeking to add a touch of Paris to their wardrobes.

This darling glass beaded beauty is comprised of 2 different types of black beads, one being a cut and faceted bead which affords this purse much sparkle, and the other a tiny round seed bead. Together they are hand stitched into an intricate pattern of paisley swirls. My photos are reasonably good, however, they do not show all the wonderful reflective qualities of the glass beads and all the shimmer that they express. The crown jewel of this purse, is of course, it's frame. The golden tone hardware and clasp are enhanced with radiant faceted prong set rhinestones and twisted silvery clear beading. In addition, there are rows of twisted gold beadwork, all creating a lovely tiara for this very special evening handbag. I had quite a lot of trouble getting clear photos of this purse and it's many features, it seems my camera had a hard time to focus with all of the glisten. Nonetheless, I feel my pictures do an adequate job of displaying this bag's personality and character.

As you can see, the frame is a shapely work of art and dresses this bag up for an elegant evening out. The frame suffers no age related issues and it opens and closes properly with the lift up to open round clasp. All elements of the frame are in good order with nothing missing, distorted or flawed. This purse has a medium soft hand but is not too soft, it is comfortable to carry, but will not carry very much, as it is a smaller purse. The purse is well attached to the frame at all points and carries with a slinky styled carry handle. This purse is in the condition I prefer: no damages, no significant or apparent missing beadwork, snags, stains or negatives, just a delightful treasure from the 1930's - 1940 era that has been lovingly cared for and respected.

The interior maintains it's original quality black satin lining with pocket and designer label. The interior is in clean condition and appears as unused, as it has none of the usual signs of usage, no rubbing, snags or wear, I'm showing lots of photos, from all angles of this purse, so you can judge this beauty for yourself and know how lovely it is. This exquisite Freddy of Paris black beaded evening bag, stuffed with tissue, measures only 4 inches at it's tallest, 9 inches across the bottom, 8 inches across the frame, the side gusset is 1½ inches and the carry handle drops 5 inches.  This purse will carry only your basic essentials, such as a small hanky, comb, credit card, lipstick, etc., nothing too large. If you like to carry a purse that has some visual sparkle and sheen, then you will enjoy owning this sophisticated evening bag meant for a black tie event or other formal gathering. No disappointments in this one, it's chic and smart looking, clean, fully intact and it's a Freddy of Paris, let me know and I'll put it aside for you.
