The arrangement of pansies includes purple, plum and lavender, yellows and multi greens including lime green around the outer edges of the pansies, very dynamic against the jet black faceted micro glass bead background. Additional colors include royal blue on one pansy in the center, the remaining blues are actually lavender tones. There are multi shades of deep ruby red in the centers and elsewhere (may appear as orange but there is no orange), dashes of white, pink in the bottom row of roses and amber where the tassel connects. The colors are truly marvelous on this purse and very true to life. The top and bottom portions of the bag are banded with additional floral decorations which include delicate roses. The bag is completed with a beaded ball and tassel. I simply love this purse but I am partial to pansies. The purse is in overall fabulous condition, save for one very small repair that is very hard to see, a bit easier to feel than to see. I am showing a clear close-up of it in the black beading, it doesn't involve very many beads, looks like someone took a couple of stitches, perhaps to secure a snag. It is located just to the right of the center flower that has the royal blue and just above the green leave to the right of the blue flower. As you can see in the left photo above, it is very hard to notice and in my opinion, should be left alone, it looks just fine, in fact, I had trouble finding it to take the photo. The remainder of the purse appears to be in excellent condition, I can't really find any apparent bead loss but just to be safe, lets say there might be a missing bead.
The original lining is a very interested blue/purplish iridescent material and it has a pocket. The lining is in great condition without tears or wears but before I would send it to you, I would stitch it to the frame a little better than it is, as a few threads are getting weak. The fabric's sheen is not showing too well in my photo, the actual tone will be a pleasant surprise, it is not at all like anything I usually find in linings. The pale pink gathered trimming is sweet but starting to show age related fraying in a few places. This delightful purse is stitched onto a sterling silver frame that appears to have a pale gold wash finish. As shown, the frame is marked 925 F Sterling, I have not been able to identify the makers name. The exterior of the frame has a lovely and delicate etched design which adds more charm to this treasure. One side of the frame has the original owner's initials, MBE as shown, a nice piece of history. The tiny size of the beads makes this knit purse feel very light weight, although it is not a skimpy bag, it will not carry a lot either. It measures 9 inches in height plus the 1 1/2 inch tassel by 6 inches across the hinges. I believe you will be thrilled to add this 100 year old purse to your collection or wardrobe accessories, it's terrific. Pansy beaded purses are unique and I've only seen a few through my many years of handling purses. The condition is what I consider very good, very fine. The last two photos show both sides of the purse but I wish my pictures could show you how really gorgeous this purse is and did I mention about the sparkle on this purse, yes, it shimmers all over.
