The close-up photo of the beading shows this color a little better but the ivory tone washed out of all the other photos. The beadwork is comprised of some of the tiniest seed beads and they are all hand stitched very snugly together. Amongst the beading is a generous amount of tambour needlework executed with the Beauvais stitch. The minute stitches are quite small but the colors have maintained their depth though the decades and include aqua and sky blues, multi greens, dusty rose, lavender, rustic orange, earthy yellow almost red and a couple other shades. The satin lining is similar in color to the ivory beading and it has a labeled pocket. Although showing gently usage, it has no staining, wears or tears, in fact the lining and purse has been completely cleaned for your future enjoyment. The gold tone brassy frame is absolutely gorgeous. There is a lot of open and pierced workmanship to the metal, all sculpted with color coordinated Champleve enamel work, as only the French artisans can do. Interspersed amongst the enameling are strands of French gold steel and white beads and a total of 15, multi toned, cabochon glass jewels, one on the clasp and the remainder on the frame. The condition of the enameling is nearly pristine, I barely see any wear, only a tad bit on the clasp. The entire purse is truly in fabulous condition for its age. And speaking age, how many times do we find evening bags of this quality with notes acknowledging it's many years of life? This purse was found with a couple of cards inside, one written in pencil, in the upper left hand corner, the word opera. Under that, Honey-moon Paris rue de Rivoli Le Marais w Albert - 1925. Along with this hand written card is what appears to be a Hotel business card. These historical pieces will stay with this purse as they speak clearly about where this purse has been. Stuffed with tissue, this handbag measures 5 & 1/2 in height by 7 & 1/2 in width, the sides gusset out 2 inches and the golden chain handle drops 6 inches. This is a magnificent French evening bag with everything going for it, superior clean condition, jeweled and Champleve enameled frame, great color, pizzazz and history, what more could you ask for? Remember, it's bright ivory.
