This 1920 enameled creation is in splendid form and the enamel paint has an ultra nice sheen like only the Mandalian purses have. The colors are crisp, bright and clean. They include a deep wine burgundy (perhaps a bit deeper than shown in some photos), soft cobalt-like blue, medium green and black on an ivory background tone, no fading or negatives about the enamel that I can detect. This mesh purse has been so very well protected and cared for, I simply love it. The artwork is delightful with a dual butterfly theme with additional florals and details creating an electrifying pattern. I believe my photos do a good job of depicting all of the characteristics, however, I think it looks a lot better in person. I know the collector of these fine mesh bags will be most pleased with this example. The fringe is equally as lovely, silvery and in complete condition, all strands are in place as they should be. The silver tone frame has a marvelous design, very different from what I usually find. The all-over embossed florals are so reminiscent of the Art Nouveau era but the step down sculpted shape is so very Art Deco. Mandalian did a super job of combining both of these eras in the outline of this purse. Both sides of this purse are identical and my photos show a good representation of each aspect. The interior is signed Mandalian and it is unlined. The metal is bright and does not show much age. The links at the hinges and about the purse are all intact, nice and snug as they should be. The size measures 7½ from the top of the clasp to the tip of the fringe by 3½ across the frame, the chain handle drops 5 or so inches. This vintage Mandalian mesh purse is quite fascinating, in fantastic condition and is sure to be a welcomed addition to your treasury of antique purses.
