This simpler yet elegant example, from the early 1900's, is shiny and for the most part tarnish free. The tiny little mesh circles appear to be complete, if there is any wear, it is small and inconspicuous. The mesh is very secure to the frame, heavily gathered all around and snug at the hinges with the tiniest bit of mesh separation at one hinge, barely noticeable. The purse is rather weighty for it's finer mesh and smaller size of 5 & 1/2 from the tip of the clasp to the bottom by nearly 4 inches across the frame. The chain handle drops 5 & 1/2 inches and the purse flairs out to over 6 inches. The sterling frame is sturdy yet delicate and feminine with recessed embossed rosettes. The frame has a nice scalloped Art Nouveau shape and the clasp is tipped in blue cabochons. Overall, this is a fine sterling silver mesh purse. It is in extra nice condition and presents itself very well. Hinges and clasp are in solid working order. The interior is unlined and has all of the appropriate markings, as shown. The interior is also initialed, no doubt from the original owner. You can see from the photos that the mesh is dense and clean. This is a nice quality sterling mesh bag and will make a great addition to your collection.
