The pattern is so full that there is no distinguishing background color. The squares of blue, green, pink, pale yellow, pumpkin orange and white are trimmed in a jet black tone, all creating a fascinating presentation. The colors are very crisp and alive, perky and deep in tone, the enamel has a nice shine. You will find barely any color loss on this purse, perhaps a link here and there, overall it's in really excellent condition. I'm showing you lots of photos so you can judge this detailed pattern for yourself and see how striking it is. The mesh is well attached at all points, there are no gaps at the hinges, no lost links or detachments that I detect.
The brassy toned frame is another added treat with recessed configurations that are filled with coordinating enamel paint. Again, there may be just a wee bit of color fading or loss but nothing that is really apparent at all. The frame is very pretty and different from any other frame I have seen, even the chain handle is exceptionally detailed with embossed designs. Each side of the frame and the purse are identical, both in style and condition. In a couple of photos, it might look as if the side of the frame is bent inward a little, but in person, that is barely the case, the arms of the frame are just fine and so are the hinges.
The bottom is finished with an eight point Van Dyke skirted fringe, all intact and secure. The interior of the frame is stamped with the Whiting & Davis emblem and the purse is unlined. The clasp opens and closes with a snap and structurally, this purse suffers no problems. This mesh bag measures 6½ from the top of the clasp to the bottom of the fringe by 4½ inches across the fringe. That gorgeous chain handle is extra long and drops the purse by nearly 8 inches. Please consider adding this terrific 1920's Whiting & Davis mesh handbag to your collection, it's very interesting and in near pristine condition, a quality investment choice.
