My photos are expressing the personality of the handbag nicely and the colors are not exaggerated, they are crisp and alive, yet not stark at all, this purse is simply stunning and I would expect that it's next owner would find it very appealing. I'm showing you lots of photos so you can see how really gorgeous it is with all of the intricate floral detailing which covers the greater portion of the purse. There are a substantial amount of colors used to hand stitch this purse, all showing perfectly in my photos, and the silk stitches count to approx. 32 to the inch or over 1000 to the square inch. I love the way the flowers reach all the way up to the frame. The background color is a soft warm ivory tone that has barely any age related discolor, just a bit at the edges. This purse has been professionally and thoroughly cleaned, it is in very well kept vintage condition. Both sides of this purse are identical and this handbag has a soft hand, not stiff at all, very fluid and supple to the touch. This petit point purse has been hand stitched and lightly gathered onto a gold tone French beaded frame. The variegated off white, ivory and bright gold beadwork compliments the purse beautifully. There is also some twisted metal work on the frame and the side arms are sweetly embossed. The lift up to open clasp is beaded with a matching design and all aspects of the frame function as they should, opening and closing properly. The frame has good depth and measures at least a half inch wide from front to back and is 8 inches long from side to side. The clasp has good size and is positioned well amongst the flowers. The interior of this frame is signed made in France, as shown below.
This stylish and sophisticated purse has a nice wide 1¼ inch outer perimeter band of petit point flowers. This purse is larger than most petit point bags, stuffed with tissue it measures 7 inches in height, 9¼ inches across the bottom and the twisted chain carry handle drops 6 inches. This is a very roomy evening handbag and you will be able to carry everything necessary for an evening out, including your phone, small hair brush and accessories that would not fit into most petit point purses, however, you will not want to over stuff it. The purse is well attached to the frame at all points. There were a couple of stitches needed on the petit point, just under the hinges but I think everything is just fine, I did my best to secure any stitches that were rubbed by the hinges.
The interior has it's original bright ivory satin lining but I find no label. It has 2 pockets and each holds a much needed purse accessory: a fancy folding make-up mirror and a satin change purse. The lining shows gentle usage and a couple of very faint pink lipstick marks. I did my best to remove them during the cleaning and they nearly disappeared but not quite. This lining is without wear or tear and is in very fine vintage condition, quite acceptable and presents well. In the photo below, down where the chain hangs toward the bottom, look just above the chain, you will see a very tiny brown stain that is in the shape of a leaf, that is the only real discolor on this purse, I almost missed it and it's easy to forgive. This is a striking example of a 1940's petit point purse. This chic hand made creation took much talent and patience to complete. The parade of flowers is amazing and I think you will happy to add this purse to your esteemed wardrobe accessories.
