Although I find no country of origin marked on the purse, I would attribute it to the French, primarily because of the style of the furniture depicted in the background and the type of carry chain handle used. Walborg has an excellent reputation for creating some marvelous handbags and this example is one of their finest. The curtain has been drawn on this performing couple and aren't they wonderful, dressed in period clothing of the times. The scene seems to be that of a stage performance and there is a multitude of color on this purse, covering just about the full spectrum. Unlimited and exhaustive hours went into the making of this purse, it sports those tiny little micro stitches , 44 stitches to the inch or about 1900 to the square inch, a bit difficult to count them even under magnification. I must show you lots of photos of this purse so you can see how truly exquisite it is. The detailing to the scene cannot be compared to any other petit point purse I have ever acquired. This purse is in extraordinary condition, no stains or pulled threads, no missing stitches that I have found, no fading of colors. The purse is well attached to the frame as it should be and opens and closes properly. The scene is the same on each side, overall this handbag is a pure visual delight. An exciting feature of this purse is the front of the gold tone frame, it is decorated with a coordinated band of floral petit point. Not many purses have this attribute, it adds more dimension and style to an already gracious and elegant purse. The outer perimeter of this handbag has a ¾ inch floral design that matches the floral decor of the frame. A lot of thought and attention went into the making of this bag, every effort was given to produce the final results.
Even the rear side of the frame has the most gorgeous embossing. The clasp is a push to open, and closes with a snap. The interior satin lining has a soft rustic tone, a labeled pocket and matching change purse. This is a larger petit point purse, stuffed with tissue it measures a very generous 6 inches in height by nearly 10 in width and the twisted chain handle drops 6 inches. This handbag has maintained it's grandeur, I doubt it was carried more than a few times, certainly doesn't show much usage nor any age. I don't expect that I will see another purse like this one for a very long while so if this one tickles your fancy, grab it while it's available, it's a treasure.
