Christ gave Himself for us as a fragrant offering and a sacrifice. Eph 5:2 How can the crucifixion of an innocent Jesus be called a fragrant offering? Let's consider the following situation. You and a friend attend a celebration. The hostess provides a generous buffet and everyone is welcoming and friendly except for Bitterness, who speaks badly of everyone and everything. After awhile your friend says to you, "I'm going out for some fresh air, it stinks in here." Clearly, a heart filled with Bitterness offers nothing but to spoil the flavor of the atmosphere. Now examine the life of Jesus. Eye witnesses testified that He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. He raised the dead, fed the hungry, loved everyone and overpowered demons. Thousands of people followed Him around the countryside. They wanted to touch His clothing, breathe the sweet air around Him and hear about God's never ending grace and mercy. Afterwards, He obediently gave Himself as a sacrifice, His blood paid the penalty for our sins, a debt so large, we cannot make the payment ourselves. A heart filled with generosity and love will carry a legacy for all time. Accepting Jesus and following His way is like winning the Super Bowl. Out of love, He tackled the opponent for us and made the winning touch down. By faith, we choose to accept the victory, walk in righteousness to claim our trophy and partake in the banquet with Him, forever. God is our host and Jesus paid the bill for us. As an invited guest, how much more fragrant can it get? I pray for you and your families, God Bless, Carol
