One of the Best Limoges & Austrian Dresser Sets

<<<< Back to
Vanity Items and Porcelain Dresser Pieces page 2

This superb vanity dresser set is one of the most gorgeous I have acquired in much too long a time, don't let this one get away from you.

This antique porcelain vanity ensemble is set apart from others in so many ways, well beyond it's exquisite artwork and extra fine assortment of footed pieces.

The set is completely hand painted in the most stunning primroses, all color tones are showing very well in my photos. The artist exhibits a great deal of talent, not only in the presentation of the flowers but also in the surrounding decorative highlights.   The larger footed tray is rectangular in shape and carries the T&V (Tressemanes & Vogt) Limoges mark, as shown, as well as the artists signature. This mark was used between 1892 and 1907, per the Mary Frank Gaston book on Limoges porcelain. It measures generously at 11½ in length by 7½ in width and sits on it's feet at 1⅜ in height. This tray offers a special sense of elegance and will stand proudly atop any vanity or dressing table.

I don't know anyone that doesn't love these little button boxes.  They simply are not that readily available and rarely does one accompany a set. This button, stud or collar box as they are occasionally referred to is as adorable as they come. It is artist signed on the underside and is lovingly decorated with great detail and lavished with gold highlights, as all the pieces are. This wee little box measures 2⅝ across and is 1⅛ in height.

The footed powder or talcum shaker (hole in the bottom) is a fun yet important piece and look how fabulous this accessory looks. Just imagine yourself indulging with sprinkle of powder from this precious shaker. It measures 4¼ in height and bulges to 3½ at the lower point. This piece is artist  signed and marked but I cannot make out the mark.

No great set is complete without a hair receiver and matching vanity box. This gorgeous footed duo adds the finishing touches to this outstanding set. The leaf shaped gold finial is wonderful and makes opening this box a pleasure. These vanity boxes measure 3½ in height, without the finial and bulge to 4½ inches at their widest. They are quite roomy inside and will hold lots of your favorite goodies, like hair pins, barrettes or even your finer jewelry. The boxes carry the Austrian urn W mark from H. Wehinger & CO, made hard paste porcelains between 1890 and 1928 when the factory closed. I believe my photos do express the true nature of this really dynamic set. The condition is all you could hope for, no damage, crack, hairline, chip or fault. The paint is strong, complete and I find no losses on this set, certainly wee if any. If you have been searching for that special antique porcelain vanity dresser set, please consider this one, you will not regret it.
