The tray has an inviting oval shape and is quite roomy, measuring 12½ in length by 9 in width and the edge does curve up as dresser trays usually do. The tray is decorated with sprays of daisies and well shaded with rustic amber, blue and green. In addition, the artist encircled the artwork with a nice wide band of gold gilt that is further enhanced with embossed curly details. The outer edge of the tray is also gilded and the bottom underside carries the MZ Austria mark (Moritz Zdekauer of Altrohlau and Bohemia), dating this set to the very early 1900's.
One very appealing aspect of this set is the pair of candle sticks, it's always exciting to find a set that has a pair of chamber sticks. As you can see, they are very lovely with lots of gold gilt and the tops are beautifully accentuated with delicate stencil-like design. They stand firmly and measure 3 inches square at the bases by a generous 5⅜ tall, they are unmarked. Just imagine how wonderful they will look on your dressing table with some nice tall dripless candles. Not only stunning but useful as well when you want some romance in your boudoir. No set is complete without a footed hair receiver and footed powder box. These pieces are decorated in the same fashion as the rest of the set. They have a great robust size, measuring 4½ at their widest and standing proud at 3½ in height. They are marked on the under sides with the word Bavaria. I find no damages on this set nor any significant gold loss, perhaps a tad bit hear and there but nothing naughty at all. If you love daisies and like what you see in the photos, you will adore owning and using this warm and cheerful antique vanity dresser set.
