Antique Limoges Dresser Tray, Rare Chamber Sticks

<<<< Back to Vanity Items and Porcelain Dresser Pieces page 2

This splendid antique hand painted Limoges dresser tray can be purchased with a rare matching set of handled chamber sticks, if desired.

Each piece is truly beautiful and will arrive in perfect condition with no visible wear that I detect and no damages of any kind.

The sides of the tray have a gently arched shape with cut away corners. The artwork is crisp and bright with blue forget-me-nots surrounded by pastel shadings. The green leaves are edged in a burgundy brown tone and the perimeter is accented with a ribbon type decoration, all on a soft pale yellowy background tone. The thick gold gilt border adds the perfect touch of elegance to this terrific tray. The backside is marked with the Jean Pouyat stamp, dating this piece to around 1905. The tray is generous in size, measuring 11 & 3/4 in length by 8 & 7/8 in width and has a 5/8th inch rise at the outer rim.

The matching chamber sticks are a treat indeed. These pairs are so very rare, I have never acquired a set before. They are in pristine condition as is the tray. My photos show all the pieces very well and what you should expect. One of the chamber sticks has a little rattle inside of it. There must be a little piece of porcelain in it but there is no opening anywhere, so it will not come out. These issues are part of the nature of antique porcelain and certainly does not take anything away from the set, it's functionality or value. The sticks are carry the Guerin-Pouyat-Elite back stamp, another early 1900 mark and measure 7 & 1/4 tall by 3 & 1/2 wide at the bases. The gold gilt is heavy, generously lavished and completely intact.

Normally I would offer these pieces as a set but the chamber sticks are so rare, I suspect someone may want them for their pair of antique candle stands. My hope, of course, is that the set will remain together, so please consider this exceptionally fine vanity duo, they are stunning and in super condition.
