The fabric feels and looks like cotton and it is of excellent quality, somewhat heavy in weight. The case openings are dual layered with a nearly 3 inch edge. They are bright snowy white and the embroidery is a soft pale baby blue tone, showing best in the close-up photos. Each case measures 29 & 1/2 in length by 20 in width and each looks well cared for and very likely never used. There is some slight faint yellowing on the fold line but I believe that is from being in storage for so long and will most likely wash out. I see no significant wear, staining or signs of usage on the set or the embroidery. 
 The pattern is just delightful, the center basket of flowers is flanked by butterflies in flight. I love all the extra fine detailing, the set is very pretty and will compliment any solid white sheet set. If you love the elegant look of Madeira cut work and embroidery, you will appreciate this beautiful pair of vintage pillow cases.
